Beliefs

Building

Ship early. The best feedback comes from production, not planning docs.

Most complexity is inherited, not necessary. Find the original bad decision and fix that.

The right abstraction is no abstraction until you’ve needed it three times.

Speed is a feature. If it’s not fast, it’s not done.

Thinking

First principles over best practices. Best practices are someone else’s first principles.

Breadth compounds. Every new domain makes you better at all the others.

The interesting problems live at the edges between fields.

Ask “what is actually hard about this?” before “how do I solve this?”

Working

Small teams beat large teams. Communication overhead kills velocity.

Write things down. If it’s not written, it doesn’t exist.

Hire people who’ve built things, not people who’ve managed things.

Default to action. Most decisions are reversible.
